About Intaglio                                                                                       

Intaglio is a printmaking technique where the image is carved into a metal plate, typically copper or zinc. the process begins by applying a ground or protective coating to the plate, which is then scratched or etched to create the desired image. the plate is then immersed in acid (for etching) or physically engraved (for other Intaglio methods) to deepen the lines. After the plate is cleaned, ink is applied and wiped off the surface, leaving ink only in the recessed areas. Finally, the plate is pressed onto paper using a high-pressure press, transferring the ink from the etched lines to the paper. This process allows for rich, detailed images and a variety of textures.
